Indomitable Complaints

Responses to a few complaints I've seen about Indomitable. Obviously I don't expect anyone who was really put off by one of these items to care about my explanations, but I figured there are probably a few people out there who are just a little puzzled and/or concerned and might like more detail about where I'm going with these ideas.

Naruto is too powerful!
Actually, at the moment he's supposed to be on about the same power level as Orochimaru and the stronger Akatsuki members. Since my goal is to write a story where he beats them without massive amounts of dumb luck and cheesy free power-ups from heaven that's pretty much the weakest I could get away with making him.

But, he couldn't possible get that tough so fast!
He was with Jiraiya for 2 1/2 years. At the start he barely used clones at all, but we've seen him use hundreds at once during intensive training periods and by the end of the time skip he has dozens of them out training (or on infiltrations as students) all the time. If we figure he averaged 20 clones at a time over the whole 2 1/2 years that gives him around 50 years of training, which is more than most of the Akatsuki members. So matching them for power and skill seems pretty reasonable to me.

But, where did he get all those jutsu?
Jiraiya obviously knows a lot of stuff he never taught Naruto in the cannon universe. Part of the premise of this story is that Naruto was a better student, and Jiraiya was a more dedicated teacher, so he actually passed on a lot of that knowledge. That gave Naruto a base to build on, and beyond that he invented his own techniques - just like every other S-rank ninja in the series.

Those demonic blood transformation techniques are way too powerful.
You were expecting the Kyuubi to use wimpy techniques? But seriously, are they worse than Orochimaru's Body Transference and Impure Resurrection? Worse than Itachi's Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi? Worse than the nuclear-level attacks that several bijuu and Akatsuki members throw around? Naruto's Bloodline Transference and Soul Transference seem pretty comparable to me. You could argue that the blood clones are on a higher power level, and in terms of usefulness you might be right, but Kishimoto has already set a pretty clear precedent that clone techniques are really easy in this world.

That divine spark stuff is bogus! Naruto is no god!
'Kami' doesn't mean 'god', in the western sense. Just about anything that isn't mortal and has a superhuman level of power would qualify as a kami in Japanese mythology, including things like powerful nature spirits and dragons. Most of the S-rank ninja in the Narutoverse would easily qualify on the basis of power, and some of them are even immortal. So maybe Sirasa could see Naruto's potential for S-rank power levels, or maybe she thinks he can beat old age. Heck, maybe it means his great-great-great grand-daddy was a major kami. But that doesn't mean he's going to suddenly grow a halo and ascend to the heavens or something.

  1. I agree with you one hundred and twenty percent raised to the power of 880 Ym.
I’ve always hated how Naruto can go from fighting Orochi on equal footing to getting his ass handed to him by someone who sucks Orochi’s toes.
Everyone who complains about Naruto being too powerful has always annoyed me.
Come on this is a kid who was the dead last in his academy class {and not just a dead last but someone with such poor skills that they wouldn’t even let him try to pass the second test three times even though they would let Rock Lee another dead last student try on his first time. And don’t say it was because of prejudice against him because of the Nine Tails, the Third Hokage already commented that anybody who disobeyed his law about Naruto was harshly punished which means the Third was keeping an eye on him so he knew Naruto’s skills.} And then he learns the Shadow Clone Technique in which you routinely see him produce thousands at a time and suddenly Naruto who couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag can suddenly take on C level opponents, then a little training from Kakashi {a couple months} and he can take on B rank opponents, with a little training with Jiraiya {before the time skip} and he could take out A rank opponents. And none of these victories came through skill or intelligence but through pure power.
I mean if you’re reading or writing fan fiction it’s either because you want to see your favorite characters in new and interesting situations or because there was something about the original story that annoyed you and you want to see whatever it was that annoyed you happen differently, preferably in a way that satisfied you.
Since you’re writing a smarter and more skilled Naruto then what was, is and probably what will be shown in the series I can only imagine that his raw power with his stupidity annoyed you so you decided to change it.
As a reader who also finds the original’s zero skills with full on stupid annoying I find your stories to be some of the better ones out there both well written and well thought out with premise’s that even if I disagree with some of them they fit logically, and there is nothing more annoying then premise’s that make no sense.
And pay no mind to people who complain about you making Naruto too powerful since it’s nothing compared to how powerful I’d make him if I could actually write with any degree of talent, Naruto’s power, skill, and intelligence would raise exponentially from what it was to the power of 880 Ym.
880 Ym is the estimated diameter of the known universe in case you were curious.

  2. I dunno, I think Naruto is canonically and in Indominable 'too powerful'. But I think he also has to be 'too powerful', otherwise he'd just get splatted the first time he ran into a reasonably powerful enemy. It's something you go along with for the sake of the story, even if on a logical level it makes no sense.

  3. Has it occured to anyone else that Sage Mode would be the most broken technique since the Sharingan for this Naruto? Even if you go with the two-Kage Bunshin limit, he could still have two or three Living Clones in the actual combat area with two KB each. And since he can switch the chakra link on the fly he could have another Living Clone in another country actually creating the KBs as they're needed. Plus the clone summoning scroll would be unnecessary with his 'Memory Clone' telepathy technique. I mean, continuous perfect Sage Mode from multiple durable bodies with no need to pause to get the next refill? He could crush Pain like a bug.

...On second thought, that would be awesome.
